The Western Family story begins with the founding of the Pacific Mercantile Cooperative on March 3, 1934. At that time, a group of Western retailer-owned grocery wholesalers banded together to share the expertise and counsel necessary to successfully challenge the fast growing chain stores and competing regional distributors. It was later determined that an even stronger source of support was needed to provide more comprehensive services.

On December 19, 1963, Western Family Foods, Inc. was established to provide procurement, marketing, coordination, and expanded services to better assist retailer-owned wholesalers throughout the West. The Western Family commitment to quality and service proved to be very important to our initial success.

The Western Family story continues with the precepts of our past forming the present and the foundation of our future. We are dedicated to serve today's wholesalers and independent grocers with products and support necessary to lead the way in today's rapidly growing marketplace.

We are a full service organization serving a wide range of customer needs. As the needs change, Western Family adapts to meet them, quickly and efficiently. We take all our responsibilities seriously, but emphasize in the area of product procurement. New products are continually being reviewed, rated and added to our product lines.

Western Family will continue to demonstrate its ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment. We have come a long way since 1934 and our pioneering spirit and optimistic outlook promises an even brighter future.
