Caramel Corn
  • 1 Box (10.5 oz.) Western Family Natural Flavor Popcorn
  • 2 cups Western Family Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Western Family Butter
  • 1/2 cup Western Family Light Corn Syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Western Family Baking Soda
  1. Pop all three bags of Western Family Popcorn in the microwave; remove all unpopped kernels and place into a large oven ready stockpot or roasting dish.
  2. In a heavy deep pot combine brown sugar, butter and corn syrup. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, allow mixture to boil for five minutes. Remove pot from heat and stir in baking soda. Quickly pour sugar mixture over popcorn and mix until popcorn is coated.
  3. Place pot into the 250°F oven and stir popcorn every fifteen minutes. Remove popcorn from oven after one hour, it should be crunchy, and pour onto sheets of tin foil and allow to cool.

Makes approximately 18 cups of caramel popcorn.

YUMMY ADDITIONS:

  • 1 1/2 cup Whole Almonds, Peanuts or Walnuts (Mix into the caramel popcorn BEFORE baking.)
  • 1 1/2 cup Chocolate Candy Pieces (Mix into the caramel popcorn AFTER it is done baking.)
